Patient Care
Dr. Mariel Deutsch at Neurology MIND Care PLLC provides consultations only, and does not provide any ongoing neurologic care. Typically, the consultation visit with Dr. Deutsch will be one-time only.
The patient should keep their current neurologist, or Dr. Deutsch can provide a referral for a new neurologist, geriatrician, or both.
The patient should continue to see other physicians and providers for acute and chronic care management, including medication prescriptions, or seek out other physicians and providers as needed.
Dr. Deutsch will, with your permission and preference, discuss the consultation with the patient’s primary medical doctor, neurologist, psychiatrist, therapist, or all of the above, so that they are informed of the plan of care, including any prescriptions that are recommended.
Dr. Deutsch may recommend a test or referral that she does not prescribe. Examples may include certain blood tests, imaging tests, EEGs, sleep studies, consultations with other specialists, or referrals for various types of therapy (physical, occupational, speech, swallow, or psychological). If she does not order the test or referral, she will give detailed instructions for how to proceed.
Dr. Deutsch does not fill out paperwork for short-term or long-term disability, but, with your permission, will provide the patient’s other doctors with her Consultation Note that includes the diagnosis and a detailed account of symptoms so that they can fill out the paperwork with greater ease.
Phone calls or messages sent to the office regarding symptoms may not be returned in a timely manner, and they should be directed to those physicians and providers who do provide ongoing acute and chronic care management.
All emergencies should always be directed to an emergency room for emergency care.

Tests or referrals Dr. Deutsch recommends or prescribes may be covered by your insurance, even though she is not an in-network provider and does not accept Medicare or Medicaid.
If Dr. Deutsch recommends or prescribes any tests to further clarify the diagnosis, then any follow-up conversations by phone, telehealth, or in-person to discuss the results and finalize the consultation are at no charge and considered included as part of the initial fee, as long as they occur within 12 months of the initial consultation. Beyond 12 months, follow-up assessments to finalize the consultation are charged a fee. It is the responsibility of the patient or their legal representative to schedule recommended or prescribed tests and follow-up conversations with Dr. Deutsch.
Cancellation Policy
A “late-cancellation” is canceling an appointment with less than 24 hours notice of a scheduled appointment.
A “no-show” is missing a scheduled appointment.
Late cancellations and no-shows cause problems that go beyond a financial impact on the practice. When an appointment is made, it takes an available time slot away from another patient. No-shows and late-cancellations delay the delivery of healthcare to other patients.
Please contact the office for information about the fees for late cancellations and no-shows.
Late cancellation and no-show fees are due at the time of the kept-visit. When the appointment is rescheduled, a non-refundable deposit towards the fee of the consultation may also be required in advance of the appointment.
After 2 late cancellations or no-shows, a future appointment may not be rescheduled.
Of course unforeseen emergencies and outstanding circumstances can happen, and these will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
